Internship Description

Assisting in creation of independent, capstone projects and redesigning of science courses in marine biology, environmental science, biology and chemistry for Holyoke Public School and independent research projects for Natural Science Clubs (afterschool program). Research projects will be complementary to the high school programs and will serve as a resource for innovation in course redesign. For example, these projects will include expanding of topics in the science program, preliminary assessment of student’s original ideas and research, and design of DIY equipment (e.g., water quality monitoring devices) that will be used in projects conducted with our high school participants. When applicable (due to deadlines and interest), the topics for independent studies will be shaped around the upcoming science awards aimed for K10-12 students (e.g. Clean Tech Competition, Chemistry in Pictures, Earth Day Awards). This will be coordinated with the goals to maximize students’ outcomes and achievements through our program.

Others will include: Organization of career development workshops, Science Gala, seminar planning

 When: September-December 2018
