Chief for Populations in the Division of Migratory Birds, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Scott Johnston is the Chief for Populations in the Division of Migratory Birds for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, based in Hadley, MA. He has been with the Service for 25 years, starting his career in southern California working on the California Condor Recovery Program. Scott worked on endangered birds in Hawaii for 5 years, and worked in the Washington, DC headquarters in the Endangered Species Division, and as a Special Assistant to the Director of the Service. Scott grew up in California, holds a BS from Humboldt State in Wildlife Management, and an MS in Biology from UCLA. He has been active in the Amherst community serving on the Crocker Farm School Council for 3 years, served as board member and as Chair of Family Outreach of Amherst, and coached junior varsity volleyball for 10 years at the middle school and high school.
